Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Tropiq is only as smart as the data behind it. Aviation runs on documents that were designed for paper — approach plates, sectional charts, pilot operating handbooks, performance tables — dense, inconsistent, and full of the exact details that keep a flight safe. Getting that information into the platform accurately, and keeping it current, is one of the hardest and most important problems we have.

This is a senior engineering role focused squarely on that problem. You'll build the systems — increasingly AI-driven — that read these documents, extract what matters, and turn them into structured, verifiable data the rest of the product can rely on. When Tropiq tells a pilot which approach they can fly tonight, in this aircraft, in these conditions, your work is what makes that possible.

What you'll do

• Build ingestion pipelines that read charts, plates, POHs, and performance data and turn them into clean, structured data
• Use LLMs and modern AI tooling to extract information from messy, paper-era source material — with the rigor to know when a human has to be in the loop
• Design the validation and verification that earns trust: aviation data has to be right, not just plausible
• Own data quality, freshness, and the systems that keep thousands of documents current
• Work directly with pilots on the team to encode real aeronautical judgment into how we parse and structure data

What we're looking for

• 5+ years building production software, with strength in backend, data pipelines, or ML systems
• Hands-on experience using LLMs/AI for extraction or structuring — and healthy skepticism about their failure modes
• Comfortable with ambiguous, messy real-world data and the discipline it takes to make it reliable
• A bias toward correctness; you understand that in aviation, "mostly right" isn't right
• Aviation knowledge (or the curiosity to go deep on it) is a real plus
