About the role

Tropiq lives on a tablet, but the cockpit is full of hardware — and some of the most important data a pilot needs can't come from software alone. We're building dedicated in-cockpit hardware to close that gap, and we need a senior hardware engineer to own it.

The device we're building gives pilots a complete picture of the airspace around them and more. That means receiving both ADS-B frequencies at once — 978 and 1090 — and fusing them into one clean traffic picture, processed right on the device. It means a GPS source that keeps working when the signal is being jammed or spoofed. It means sensors that matter for safety, like carbon-monoxide detection that talks directly to the EFB. And it means getting all of that to the pilot's tablet reliably, over its own link, so the iPad isn't stuck choosing between one network and another.

You'll make those connections rock-solid in a vibrating cockpit with spotty connectivity, and feed that real-time data into the intelligence layer that makes Tropiq a partner rather than a display.

What you'll do

  • Own the in-cockpit hardware end-to-end — receivers, sensors, wireless links, and the firmware that ties them together
  • Build dual-band ADS-B reception and on-device traffic processing into one reliable picture
  • Engineer for resilience: GPS that survives jamming and spoofing, sensors that work when it counts, connectivity that doesn't drop
  • Turn raw avionics and sensor streams into structured data our AI layer can reason about
  • Partner with manufacturers and suppliers on durable, supportable hardware

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years in hardware, embedded, or systems-integration engineering; comfortable with device protocols, RF/wireless, and real-time data
  • A pragmatic reliability mindset — you design for the messy real world, not the demo
  • Comfortable bridging hardware and software, and using AI to speed up parsing, diagnostics, and integration work
  • Bonus: ADS-B, avionics, aviation electronics, or RF experience
  • Pilots and aviation-hardware enthusiasts especially encouraged to apply

Why Tropiq

  • Profit sharing and a direct line to product decisions
  • Work that connects software intelligence to the real cockpit
  • Small, senior, remote-first team that ships

Don't meet every bullet? Apply anyway. We care more about how you think and what you've built than a checklist.
