Senior Full-Stack and Mobile Engineer
About the role
Most electronic flight bags are filing cabinets — they hold the data and leave the thinking to you. We're building the opposite: a flight partner that looks ahead, filters the noise, and surfaces what matters before you push back. A lot of that intelligence is software, and we need a senior engineer who can own it across the whole product.
We're a small team, so this isn't a narrow lane. You'll ship across our web stack and the React Native mobile app pilots actually fly with. The cockpit is a tablet — for most GA pilots the EFB lives on an iPad strapped to a kneeboard — so mobile is the heart of it, but it's all one connected system. You'll work directly with the founder and our earliest users, who happen to be exactly the pilots we're building for.
What you'll do
- Build and ship features end-to-end across web (Next.js / React) and mobile (React Native) — charts, weather, planning, logbook, and more
- Make the mobile experience fast and reliable offline; aviation data and AI-assisted briefings have to work when the network doesn't
- Help build the AI layer that makes Tropiq a partner, not a repository: briefing distillation, NOTAM filtering, surfacing the right approach for this aircraft on this night
- Own quality and performance — code you're proud of, dependable in the cockpit, on real devices in real conditions
- Shape our architecture, tooling, and engineering culture as we grow the team
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building production apps; comfortable owning features from idea to deploy
- Strong with TypeScript and React (Next.js) and React Native — or deep on one and genuinely eager to own both
- Comfortable building with LLMs and AI tooling — or eager to, and rigorous about where they belong and where they don't
- Product sense — you care about the pilot on the other side of the screen, not just the code
- Pilots and aviation enthusiasts especially encouraged to apply (not required)
